🌞 Indoor Cycling Video 🌞 Late Summer Cycling in the Jauntal (Jaun Valley) - Kuhnsdorf Bahnhof to Kraftwerk Edling The Jauntal is named after the ancient Roman settlement of Juenna and is flanked in the south with the Karawanken mountain range. To the north is the river Drau, where the river is damned for Hydropower (a Stausee). The Jauntal is a crossroads of Roman history, Slovene culture, and Austrian Alpine geography. The valley’s bilingual heritage is still visible in place names, traditions, and local communities. Jauntal is home to Klopeiner See (Lake Klopein), the warmest lake in Austria, one of the warmest lakes in Europe and the warmest alpine lake in Europe. Klopeiner See reaches an incredible 28 degrees Celsius in summer and remarkably, is drinking water quality. We visit this lake in this series. This ride is part one of a series of five videos where we cycle in a loop through the Jauntal (Jaun Valley). The series takes you down to the Drau Stausee and along the R1 Drautal Cycle path. We then leave the R1 and head to Lake Klopeiner See, before returning back to the train station at Kuhnsdorf. Part 1: We start at Kuhnsdorf Train station which, despite its size is a modern intercity train station between Klagenfurt and Graz, with direct links to Vienna and Munich. We travel from Kuhnsdorf to Gablern/Lovanke through lush countryside along cycle paths and minor roads. We then travel down through Pribelsdorf and Edling/Kazaze, before finishing this part of the ride overlooking the stunning Drau Stausee at Edling Kraftwerk.
