Follow our journey, as we attempt to backpack and hike with our three young kids in Nepal. Today, we will take you on a 7-hour road trip away from the bustling streets of Kathmandu to the trailhead of the Langtang Valley Trek. We chug along the dusty, two-lane highway with dump trucks, overcrowded minivans, and the occasional tour bus. We stop for bottomless plates of Dal Bhat (rice and lentils) and Nepalese dried fruit candy. Shortly after lunch, the road narrows and we start the long, winding climbs along the steep mountain sides. When we make it to Syabruesi, our final destination for the day, we settle into the Yala Hotel, go in search of hot springs, and eat a hearty dinner before heading off to bed. Tomorrow, we will begin our epic 6-day trek through the Langtang Valley. We were backpackers before having kids, and luckily we get to continue sharing our love for backpacking with our kids.
