Another hard-fought win ended with Carey on top of Colonel Crawford in the battle of Northern 10 Conference contenders. The Blue Devils (4-4, 4-1) followed their rough-and-tumble defense into the win column with a 19-10 victory to tie for the top spot in the league. Conner McMichael led the Eagles (6-2, 3-2) into the lead with a 5-yard TD run following a lengthy jaunt into the red zone early in the second quarter. Carey countered with a scoring drive of their own, capped off by a short Mace Puckett TD run to even the game at 7-7. Puckett made another bug play just before the halftime break when he blocked a Crawford punt to set up Nathan Gery for the first of two go-ahead field goals by the senior kicker. Puckett later iced the game in the fourth quarter with his second TD run of the night to earn Carey their seventh victory over Crawford in their last eight meetings. Next up the Blue Devils will travel to Mohawk (6-2, 4-1) for 1st place in the N10, while Crawford will host Upper Sandusky (4-4, 3-2) who just stunned the Warriors with a 13-6 win in Week 8.
