Unterkirnach is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg and belongs to the Black Forest Baar District. Unterkirnach is located on the east side of the Black Forest, around seven kilometers from the district town of Villingen-Schwenningen. The municipality borders on Villingen-Schwenningen and Mönchweiler in the north and east, on the city of Vöhrenbach in the south and on the city of St. Georgen in the west. The district of the municipality shows a course hardly comparable in Baden-Württemberg. The districts of Unterkirnach and Villingen are closely interlinked. While most of the forest area around the municipality is on the Villingen district, the open areas are on the Unterkirnacher Marking. The border line Villingen-Unterkirnach alone is approx. 60 km long and forms numerous enclaves and exclaves.
