SONG ORIGINS - Episode 2 "Lonely River"

From my home studio all the way to the iconic @AbbeyRoadStudios, this is the journey of "Lonely River". ⁣ ⁣ I wrote the song in response to reductive stereotypes and what I call "genre ghettos," that as a black artist restrict you from the mainstream ("Urban" and "R&B"). Read my previous post on Instagram "why I won't be taking part in #blackouttuesday" if you're interested in reading more on this. ⁣ ⁣ In a week where @republicrecords have banned the use of the word "urban" from their catalogues and how they describe and categorise artists, this feels more relevant than ever. I'm calling out all of the other labels to take note and follow suit - particularly the majors. ⁣ I shot this and edited this episode last week using my Go Pro at the park in the sun on my lonesome.
