Raising teenagers...what I wish someone had told me earlier! | Tony McCabe | TEDxBolton

So many parents make parenting teens look so easy, but often behind closed doors there are challenges that families face with high-spirited or sometimes low-spirited teenagers. Too often people assume that this is due to their own parenting inadequacies but could it be that it is because of the way that the teenage brains are wired? Tony has had the privilege of listening to teenagers views on the subject and comes to the conclusion that we need to be upfront about what parents should expect in the teenager years. What we all face in raising teenagers is actually normal...and accepting and expecting this might be the first step in helping parents cope. Tony McCabe is Headteacher of St Joseph's RC High School in Horwich, England and the proud father of four 'wonderful, intelligent & perfect' children (who helped him write this bio!!! and gave insights for the TEDx talk.) His interest in raising teens comes from his own experience of the challenges of family life.
