In this AI Security Summit interview, Snyk’s Peter McKay (chief executive officer) and Manoj Nair (chief innovation officer) join theCUBE’s Jackie McGuire to unpack why Snyk created an industry forum dedicated to AI security – and how the event’s design bridges business leaders and practitioners. McKay shares the origin story: with AI events everywhere but no home for AI security, Snyk convened an ecosystem of customers, partners and thought leaders to tackle risks, challenges and real-world practices. Nair details the intentional track design – including Women in Cyber & AI (in partnership with the Forte Group), a Leaders in AI breakfast and a CISO track – plus collaboration with the AI Engineer World’s Fair to bring multi-lens education to builders and executives. Day two focuses on hands-on practitioner enablement, including certification for developing secure agents and agentic applications. The conversation explores how enterprises can move fast with AI while “staying secure,” extending proven DevSecOps learnings into AISecOps. McKay outlines Snyk’s platform approach (building on its AI Trust Platform) to embed security into developer workflows so teams can adopt agentic AI without amplifying risk. Nair charts the past year’s shift from “Is AI-generated code risky?” to assuming AI coding tools, with security context built in, are table stakes, citing Snyk’s “Secured Inception” (launched at Black Hat) and integrations with tools like Cursor, Windsurf and partners such as Cognition, Copilot and Qodo. They also discuss emerging attack vectors (including MCP-related issues), why collaboration with customers (Snyk serves ~4,700) is essential, how pricing models are evolving, and why security must become “invisible” guidance that keeps developers in flow. Looking ahead, Nair emphasizes securing non-deterministic, agentic apps with an architecture that unites innovation and protection, so the industry can scale AI safely and sustainably.
