Skyscraper is a beautiful 650-foot-long passage on the South Face of Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). It is rated as "easy fifth class," and is basically an alternative finish to the Loft/Clarks Arrow Route that leads to the summit (instead of taking the popular Homestretch). In this video I show you the way from the East Longs Peak Trailhead to Chasm Meadows, up The Loft, over to Clark's Arrow, and into Upper Keplinger's Couloir. From there, I take you to the base of the Skyscraper Route (which is located halfway between Keplinger's Couloir and the Homestretch). I took a lot of video footage chronicling the fun climbing in the chimney system of Skyscraper to where it meets the impressive SE Ridge of Longs Peak. From that point, I show the route as it follows the SE Ridge north for 600 more airy feet to the summit. Though this video shows me soloing this route, please keep in mind that many parties use a rope to climb Skyscraper and plan accordingly for your skill level. Enjoy viewing this route--it's one of my favorite scrambles on the mountain, and it's only a click away!
