Hope For Paws supporters - Thank you!!! Tonka and Valentino wouldn't have survived without you, and they are both grateful! They both had a rough start, and they both became good friends. Today, we are starting a Matching Campaign to celebrate Thanksgiving, and I really hope you will be able to join us with a special gift and help us reach that goal and the matching funds: https://www.HopeForPaws.org Every dollar you donate will be matched and will help us continue our work. It is getting cold outside, and we need to be able to be there for these animals. Tonka's rescue was quite challenging. After 5 hours he was not interested in our food anymore, and we thought it was over for that day. Luckily, Katie and I got a break, and we managed to trick him. After a long drive back to Los Angeles, we decided to give him a bath (as we do with all dogs), but Tonka was NOT ready for this, and I could see it coming. I called him so he wouldn't be so close to Katie's face, and then he charged at me. I threw myself backward, landed on my elbow, and managed to avoid his teeth. There is an important lesson in knowing when to quit and when to let a dog relax after one of the most stressful events in his life. I worked with him the whole weekend, and by Monday, the transformation was just amazing! Tonka had a foxtail lodged in his lip, and it caused an abscess that was severely infected. He was treated for that, got a couple of stitches, and continued his recovery. Meanwhile, on a different treatment table at CARES, we took in Valentino who suffered from a horrible injury (we believe he was burnt). His injury is quite terrible to look at, but I added him to this video because it's important to me that you know that there is A LOT of things that are happening here, a lot of rescues of dogs and cats that don't have rescue videos, but they all need extensive and expensive medical care. In this video you will see G.I. Jane from this video: • Abandoned desert dog had to fight for her ... It was Tonka who helped her come out of her shell, and then she helped Valentino by being his friend as he recovered from his injury. All these special animals come together here, they know each other, and love each other. Our friends at LA Animal Rescue offered to foster both Tonka and Valentino (G.I. Jane was adopted!), and it is so cool to see them playing together. Please help us save more lives by joining our Matching Campaign, and if you can't join us, then please introduce one of your family members or friends to Hope For Paws. Together, we can save many more lives. Thank you so much! Eldad #doglover #germanshepherd #doberman
