West Coast "Bodysnatcher" 57010 leads D345 and a rake of MkII "Coffins" through Wigan North Western on the afternoon of Thursday 29th August 2024. The Class 57 had gone down to Burton on Trent to collect both the Class 40 locomotive and the rake of carriages, I believe it's formed from two rakes previously used on the "Fife Circle" loco hauled job as well as two carriages that had been bound for a heritage line at one point (these two being the immaculately outshopped BR Blue & Grey liveried coaches). West Coast are in need of more modern rolling stock since the ORR/DfT now require Central Door Locking on all mainline coaches so these will get a new lease of life up in Carnforth, shame that they'll be maroon though... The train had been late leaving Burton and is seen here at Wigan some 99 minutes late, which worked out quite well for us for a change ;) The official working was; 5Z81 Burton Wetmore sidings - Carnforth Steamtown For anyone interested, the coaching stock was formed of; 5955 5945 9539 9527 6177 5976 6183 5987 6054 6176 6137 5965 Thanks for watching and subscribe to see more rail videos coming soon.
