Knife-Wielding Suspect Begs LAPD to Shoot

On October 26, 2023, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Los Angeles Central Division officers responded to a stabbing incident at the corner of 6th Street and Spring Street. This intense bodycam footage captures the moments as officers arrive on the scene, discovering multiple victims and tracking down the suspect to an apartment building on West 6th Street. The suspect, armed with a large kitchen knife, confronted officers as they attempted to de-escalate the situation. Despite deploying multiple 40mm Less-Lethal-Launcher (LLL) rounds and TASERs, the suspect continued advancing and eventually began stabbing himself. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics quickly arrived to transport the suspect and two stabbing victims to a local hospital. Unfortunately, both the suspect and one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries. The second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. No officers or other community members were harmed during the incident, and a 10-inch fixed-blade knife was recovered from the scene.
