In central Mozambique you find one of the most inspiring conservation stories in Africa:@GorongosaNationalPark. Once devastated by war, with 90% of its wildlife gone, the park is now a thriving ecosystem — home to elephants, lions, rare birds… and over 100 rescued pangolins. We visited this remarkable place and decided to make it into a special episode, a little different from our usual overlanding videos. From the ambitious Map of Life project to the vital role of pangolins in restoring the park’s balance, this story deserves to be told. Did you know? Elias Mubobo, the vet featured in our episode, also stars in Pangolin Protectors / • Pangolin Rescue in the Heart of Mozambique... — a WILD HOPE film nominated for Best Conservation – Short Form at the Jackson Wild Awards. 💚 PANGO = short for pangolin, the most trafficked mammal on earth, which we want to raise awareness for. 💛 JOIN & SUPPORT our travels, work, and awareness efforts Join our PATREON crew → / wanderingpango Make a contribution directly via https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted... or https://wise.com/pay/me/carlat509 Your support helps us to continue sharing travels stories and dedicate our time to raising awareness for conservation causes. 📺 WATCH Our Full Adventure - From Gearing up for Overlanding & Rig Build to Living on the Road: • The Full Overlanding Adventure 💜 Instagram / wanderingpango 💙 Facebook / wanderingpango Timestamps: 0:00 Welcome in Gorongosa National Park 3:44 A Wildlife Comeback Story 6:05 Meeting Ivan at the Pangolin Rehabilitation Centre 8:24 Out into the park we go with the vet and his team 10:59 A Very Special Animal 12:59 A Model for Wildlife Restoration 15:38 Belly Full (Ivan) & Hearts Full (us) Extra Episode | Shot in Mozambique, July 2025. ©️ Credits: Gorongosa Media let us use some of their drone footage of the park. / Music from Epidemic Sound. / We couldn’t have made this film without the accommodating team of the Gorongosa National Park, from vet to receptionist, and we are especially thankful to James Byrne who showed us around, introduced us to people, and thought us about the park’s history, present, and future.
