The Forerunner

Today’s message is “The Forerunner” from Luke 3:1–20, focusing on John the Baptist and his God-given role in preparing the hearts of the people for the coming Messiah. As the forerunner of Jesus Christ, John called people to repentance and pointed them toward a Savior who was coming after him. Through this passage, we are reminded that the Word of God both wounds and heals convicting us of sin while drawing us to grace and restoration found only in Christ. We come to Him with nothing to offer, fully dependent on His mercy, echoing the words of the hymn Rock of Ages: “Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling… wash me, Savior, or I die.” May our hearts be prepared today to receive all that the Lord desires to do in us.
