In this Physics video lecture in Hindi for class 12 we explained the transient current in reverse bias of a p-n junction diode semiconductor. When a p n junction diode is connected to a battery with p type semiconductor side with the negative side of the battery and n type with the positive, the connection is known as reverse biasing. The pn junction diode does not allow current when reverse biased. This statement is partially true, because an insignificant amount of current flows through the diode. Few factors are responsible for that current. One of that kind of current is known as transient current. pn junction diode creates depletion region and across that layer there is a potential barrier; for silicon semiconductor that barrier potential is 0.7 V. If the external DC source is , let us say, of 3 V, current flows through the circuit for a brief period of time (for few nanoseconds) until the potential barrier becomes 3 V. This insignificant current is known as transient current in p-n junction diode in reverse biasing. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Click to visit the homepage of our channel : / @edupoint.physics Arijit Daripa EduPoint, Dam Road, Chandil, Dist- Seraikela-Kharsawan, Jharkhand, India.
