Tegovi za merenje zlatnog praha naroda Akan - Akan Goldweights

Na izložbi je bilo prikazano više od 500 tegova iz zbirke Muzeja afričke umetnosti, preko 200 tegova iz zbirke Slovenskog etnografskog muzeja u Ljubljani, primeri iz privatnih kolekcija, kao i vage, kutije i kašike za zlatni prah. Tegovi naroda Akan jedinstveni su u svetu po svojim oblicima - predstavljaju ljude (ratnike, vračeve, lovce...), životinje (ptice,krokodili, antilope...), biljke (kikiriki, cvetove palmi, patlidžane...), predmete (bubnjeve, sandale, topove...), i brojne druge figurativne i geometrijske motive. Koliko privlače svojim oblicima, kao umetničke forme u bronzi, dimenzija od tek nekoliko santimentara, akanski tegovi jednako su značajni kao svedočanstva o prirodnom bogatstvu zlata u Zapadnoj Africi. Njima je meren zlatni prah, koji je imao ulogu novca u Gani i Obali Slonovače kod naroda Akan od 15. sve do kraja 19. veka, u svakodnevnim aktivnostima - na tržnicama, u kraljevskim trezorima zlata i za naplate državnih taksi i poreza. Izložba Tegovi za merenje zlatnog praha naroda Akan, autorke Marije Ličine (kustos MAU), predstavila je značaj koji su u globalnoj istoriji imali bogata nalazišta zlata, trgovinski i kulturni kontakti na prostoru Zapadne Afrike. Izuzetnost zbirke tegova Muzeja afričke umetnosti u Beogradu, sa više od 500 originalnih predmeta, kao i zbirka Slovenskog etnografskog muzeja sa više od 200 tegova koji su po prvi put bili predstavljeni javnosti. Kao i oblici, i značenja koja su tegovi-skulpture imali različita su: mnogi asociraju mudre pouke iz poslovica i narodnih priča, čuvaju sećanja na bitke, mitove i legende, ili predstavljaju određene simbole. Navodimo neke od akanskih poslovica: Lud je onaj ko puši i nosi bačvu sa barutom na glavi! Između ključa i brave, jedan je stariji - mora postojati vođa, čak i među jednakima. Ne treba ti veliki štap da slomiješ petlu vrat - kaže se za moćnog čoveka koji nepotrebno zlostavlja siromašnog i nezaštićenog. Snaga palmovog drveta je u njegovim granama - kraljeva moć leži u broju njegovih podanika. --- Exhibition and catalogue by: Marija Ličina, MAA curator February 16th - August 20th 2011. The exhibition showcased more that 500 goldweights from the collection of the Museum of African art, over 200 goldweights from the collection of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana and examples from private collections along with the scales, boxes and spoons for gold dust. Akan goldweights are quite unique in the world for their forms - they depict humans (warriors, medicine-men, hunters...), animals (birds, crocodiles, anthelopes...), flora (peanuts, oil palm flowers, calabashes...), artefacts (drums, sandals, cannons...) and numerous other firgurative and geometric motifs. So distinquished by their shape, like art forms cast in bronze, only few centimeters in size, the goldweights of the Akans are as significant testimonies of the rich gold deposits of West Africa. They were used for mesuring gold dust, which was circulating as currency in Ghana and Ivory Coast among the Akans from the 15th until the end of the 19th century, in everyday activities -- in markets, royal treasuries, and for payments of state taxes and tolls. The Akan Goldweights exhibition, by Marija Ličina (MAA curator), presented the importance of natural gold resources, trade and cultural contacts of the region of West Africa in the global history. The representative collection of the Museum of African Art, with more than 500 goldweights and the collection of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum with over 200 goldweights that were exhibited for the first time. Just like the shapes of the goldweights, their meanings are very diverse: they often illustrate proverbs and folk tale wisdoms, keep memories of battles, myths and legends, or bring forward other specific symbolism. Here are some of the Akan proverbs: Between the key and the lock, one is senior -- there must be a leader, even among the equal. You do not need a big stick to break a cock's head -- is said for a powerful man who unnecessarily mistreats the poor and unprotected.
