In an address to his supporters in his home village, Kanilai, Gambia's former president Yahya Jammeh promised to return from self-imposed exile in Equatorial Guinea at an unspecified date this month. The government said it received no communication to this effect, and that Jammeh will be arrested and prosecuted for crimes he is accused of having committed in his 22-year rule once he arrives. The former leader is accused of several executions carried out under his command, and theft in excess of $400 million.
