Hosur, part of Krishnagiri taluk, is located on the border of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It’s an industrial town closer to Bengaluru than the city of Chennai. Hosur is around 28 km from Electronic City, a major IT hub of Bengaluru and is around 308 km from Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. The locality consists of a wide network of roads that makes connectivity an easy affair here. Hosur is an industrial town hosting over 3000 medium and small-scale industries and many big auto and electric vehicle manufacturing units. Ashok Leyland, Titan, Sundaram Clayton, Del Monte Foods, Nippon Electricals and Toyota are a few to be named. Tata Electronics and Delta Electronics are building huge electronics manufacturing units in and around Hosur. Cab aggregator Ola, Ather, Sri Varu Motors, and Simple Energy too are setting up their factories in Hosur. TVS has pledged around Rs 1,200 crore for an EV manufacturing unit here. Also, there are plans to develop an Information Technology Special Economic Zone near Hosur. The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu or ELCOT has already called for applications for the allotment of land in this IT Park of Hosur. Proximity to Bengaluru is seen as a major advantage. Many startup IT companies prefer Hosur for their initial operations. Hosur is also famous for growing and exporting roses. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin recently inaugurated an International Flower Auction Centre in Hosur, built at the cost of Rs 20.20 crore. Tamil Nadu has also revived its plan to build an airport at Hosurrecently. The proposed domestic airport in Hosur will be less than 40 km away from Bengaluru. It will significantly benefit the industrial town of Hosur and Electronic City in the south-eastern part of Bengaluru as Hosur is barely half an hour’s travel from South Bengaluru. The nearest airport to Hosur is the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, which is situated at a distance of around 74 km. Hosur is also well-connected to major cities across the country by train. Hosur Railway Station is a part of the Bengaluru–Salem railway line and falls under the South Western Railways of Bengaluru Division. There are frequent passenger trains between Hosur and Bengaluru. A Mainline Electric Multiple Unit Train or a MEMU train runs between Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station in Majestic till Hosur daily. However, there is a demand to extend the services till Dharmapuri. There is also a demand for extension of Namma Metro services till Tamil Nadu border so that it benefits the residents of this industrial town. TNSTC, KSRTC, APSRTC, PRTC and many private buses connect Hosur to various cities. For local commuting, one has to rely on auto rickshaws and cabs. Asian Highway-43 or National Highway-44 passes through Hosur, connecting it with Bengaluru, Chennai, Salem, Madurai and Kanyakumari. This particular stretch of the highway is also a part of the Chennai–Mumbai arm of the Golden Quadrilateral Highway. NH 648 and NH 844 also pass through Hosur. Advaith International Academy, Nalanda International Public School, Sishya school, Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, St Joseph’s ITI and Polytechnic College, Vijaya Hospital, KCN Hospital, BMS Multi Speciality, Surya Multispeciality and Gunam Super Speciality hospitals are a few educational institutions and healthcare centres of good repute that can be relied on. While there are many local options for daily shopping, you can also explore the Hosur Farmer’s Market. However, there are no big shopping malls in the vicinity. One has to come to Bengaluru to visit one. The growing industrial investment in Hosur is attracting a lot of white and blue collared professionals . This has led to an increase in the residential real estate demand of this region. Hosur has great potential both in commercial and residential segments. Hosur is an industrial town. Movement of heavy vehicles all through the day and water scarcity are the major civic issues here. Hosur is experiencing high demand in terms of commercial real estate than residential development. However, the constant influx of people and the expected industrial development in the future is likely to boost the residential prospects here. Immense job opportunities, excellent connectivity via road and rail, and the prospects of future development be it in the form of investment by private companies and the revival of Hosur Airport plan by the Tamil Nadu government are some of the reasons why real estate investors are turning their heads towards Hosur.
