Embodied Intimacy Training - Module 1 - Bonding as a Community

Imagine and feel this situation... We have all been there: You arrive at a new place, your eyes are big and your body is stiff and you are looking around wondering if you know someone in the space. You are holding your breath, sussing out which corner you could disappear into, or finding and using distraction methods to protect yourself from not being seen. All of that is the Nervous System! It is the procedural memory, the habit, reminding us to feel on guard, that there is a potential threat of being critiqued and judged and feel the same pain that's been felt in the past relationally. And what do we do? We tend to ignore it, and pretend it's not there. We move through our life and our experiences without knowing how to connect with it. Module One is all to do with this: The expectation of pain we have in connection with others, simultaneously alongside how we are also longing for connection; the desire to be more heard, seen, felt and being more at peace with sharing the truth of who we really are. We explore and experience how we can alchemise this anticipation of pain and rejection in intimacy, through vulnerability. Firstly we do this in connection with ourselves: feeling what it is like to be alone, discovering how safe it is to feel bored, shame, anxiety, depression - all of the feelings that catch up with us when we slow down. Then, we explore the somatic sense of safety with another, determining how it feels in the body - what is noticed? Learning and feeling in the body a somatic sense of safety, where we feel honoured - where we can then move towards each other in curiosity. Then we do this in community. How are you in a group context? Imagine stepping into a circle of 30/40 people, who are all looking at you - their intense presence, where all the programs and strategies you have been clinging on to, are seen and felt. And from that place you are then held in love, in deep respect by others. It is time to come out of isolation and into connection. Module One is all about exploring your somatic sense of safety - in all relational dimensions (Self, Pairs and Community) and playing: from pain to pleasure!
