Take a moment to enjoy this week’s Tech Talk: HSC El Paso video! Tech Talk: HSC El Paso provides you with a roundup of information and events happening on campus! This is Tech Talk: HSC El Paso! Hello, I’m Jay Koester and I have your news and events for this week. ### Last week, students and faculty from the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine gathered in the Medical Education Building for the 8th Annual Service Learning Symposium. The symposium featured 22 student presentations and showcased the school of medicine’s philosophy of service education, a form of teaching that encourages meaningful community service. Fourth-year medical student Jennifer Nielsen gave the keynote address, along with TTUHSC El Paso associate professor Dr. Michael Parsa. Nielsen and Dr. Parsa spoke about barriers to physician volunteerism and ideas on how to overcome those barriers. (Interview clips from Nielsen and Dr. Rosenthal.) ### Dr. Paul Ogden began as TTUHSC El Paso Provost this month. Dr. Ogden joins TTUHSC El Paso from Texas A&M Health Science Center, where he has served as a professor of Internal Medicine and has held the roles of interim dean of medicine and interim senior vice president. Dr. Ogden has more than 30 years of experience in academic affairs. He will serve as the chief academic officer, focusing on academic planning, growing academic programs, and developing academic policy. Dr. Jose Manuel de la Rosa took on a new role as vice president for outreach and community engagement. In his new role, Dr. de la Rosa will be liaison between the university and community health care providers, fostering relationships that will advance education at TTUHSC El Paso. ### For more information about what’s happening on campus, visit facebook.com/TTUHSCEP.
