I've always tried to push myself outside the typical topics that perform well according to the Industry (love songs, break up songs, etc.) and I wanted to touch upon the topic of Cognitive Dissonance. It's difficult to see you're in an unhealthy situation when you've been gas lit the entire time. Even though everyone else can see it for what it is, you have to realize it for yourself to make necessary changes. I wanted the production for the track to convey a sense of driving urgency to match the lyrics. To me it feels like after a long journey in the dark, you finally see a light at the end of the tunnel and now you have to run towards it as fast as you can before everything collapses around you trapping you forever in the rubble. The structure of this song is a bit different but I also wanted to experiment by adding a bit of electro to my signature synthwave and retrowave vibes.
