Prologue: The young Peregrine Falcon named Izzi had already fledged from the nest box, but later, collided with a window. After the accident, Izzi didn’t seem badly hurt but was unable to fly. He was taken to a raptor carer, in order to rehabilitate any injuries in a big aviary. In this video, Izzi was returned home via the back hatch of the nest box for the second time. (See the video “Izzi’s Big Adventure” for the first time.) Some food was placed in the box too, which was meant to encourage him to stay put until his parents, Xavier and Diamond, registered that Izzi was theirs. The plan worked beautifully, with first Xavier checking out Izzi, and then bringing prey to Izzi. Diamond visited next. Xavier and Diamond, happy to have him back, showered Izzi with prey, dropping off one dead bird after another. Eventually the nest box floor was littered with prey. Diamond seemed interested in feeding Izzi herself, but Izzi seemed conflicted. Apparently exhausted from the time away, Izzi repeatedly fell asleep, even while eating. The cams are run by the FalconCam Project, showing a Peregrine Falcon nest box on the Charles Sturt University (CSU) campus in Orange, NSW Australia. There are three cams in the nest box, which can be viewed on Scott Banks’ and Cilla Kinross' YouTube channels: / scotteebks and / @cillakinross .
