Avalanche Safety Training Selkirk College

On February 13th we practiced some practical skills and had discussions around snowpacks and avalanche rescues. This was done with half of the year 2 Recreation, Fish, and Wildlife students of 2026 and Keyes Lessard Selkirk College instructor. The Backcountry Risk Analysis and Mitigation course includes the AST1 course which we are practicing here. We took weather observations, did fine search practice, dug snow pits for tests, practiced rescues, and much more. Not all of this was in the video but I got the highlights.
