Apex Blues - Climax Jazz Band with Kenny Davern 1978 In 1978 Kenny Davern was invited as a guest in one of the Peter Appleyard Jazz shows in Toronto, Canada. Our Climax Jazz Band performed in a total of 6 shows. In this clip Kenny together with our reedman Jim Buchmann perform one of the most famous Jimmy Noone originals, the Apex Blues. Now some 28 years later three members are still with the Climax Jazz Band and perform at Jazz Festivals all over the world. Jim Buchmann on reeds ( in this clip on alto) still plays as good if not better while Chris Daniels on bass and Jack Vincken on banjo still provide that unique solid background. The other members of our band at that time were Max Littlejohns on drums and not playing in this clip trombonist Geoff Holmes and yours truly Bob Erwig. I left the band in 1996 to move to British Columbia.
