Missing 411: The Appalachian Disappearances Nobody Can Explain. Four documented disappearances in the Great Smoky Mountains that match the Missing 411 profile - cases where people vanished without a trace despite massive search operations. In this Missing 411 investigation, I cover the disappearances of Trenny Gibson (1976), Thelma Pauline Melton (1981), and Derek Lueking (2012) in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. All three cases match the Missing 411 profile points documented by David Paulides: brief separation from group, canine tracking failure, complete absence of physical evidence, and proximity to water or dense vegetation. When David Paulides filed Freedom of Information Act requests for National Park Service missing persons data, they quoted him $1.4 million. The NPS does not maintain a centralized database of people who have gone missing in national parks - even though 12 million people visit the Great Smoky Mountains every year. This is Part One of my Missing 411: Appalachian Cases series. Part Two will cover the Blue Ridge disappearances in Virginia. CASES COVERED: → Trenny Gibson - October 8, 1976, Forney Ridge Trail → Thelma Pauline "Polly" Melton - September 25, 1981, Deep Creek Trail → Derek Lueking - Spring 2012, Smokemont area → Pattern analysis across 43 years ⚠️ Content Note: This investigation discusses real missing persons cases with respect for the victims and their families. 📧 Have information on these cases? secondphonestories@gmail.com CHAPTERS: 00:00 - Introduction 01:47 - Setup: The Missing 411 Pattern 04:31 - Story #1: Trenny Gibson (1976) 13:17 - Story #2: Polly Melton (1981) 22:52 - Story #3: Derek Lueking (2012) 29:00 - The Pattern: What Connects These Cases 35:39 - Outro: Part One Conclusion 🔴 RELATED INVESTIGATIONS: ▶️ The Bennington Triangle Vanishings: • The Bennington Triangle Vanishings: What's... ▶️ Dennis Martin: The Hidden Stories: • The Appalachian Vanishings: What's Taking ... ▶️ Appalachian Trail Murders: • Why the Appalachian Trail's Deadliest Kill...
