On what was called "A thinkers track", maidstone Aces ran a very successful meeting, with a big entry, indeed 4 heats of 500cc Solo's, headed by David Steen, Vince Kinchin, Paul Mitchell, Mark Smith, Alan Harmer, Mark Seabright, and local man Duncan Tolhurst. Not your usual flat oval grasstrack, this was set on a hill with some undulations, so riders had to think about what they were doing. All classes were very competitive, with the 350cc Solo's looking as tough as any class, with Mark Seabright doing both 500cc & 350cc, could he make it a double win? Keith Potts, Jonathan Duke, Steve Carter, Dave Mears, and top eastern centre rider Neil Scopes would all make it very difficult for him. The RH Sidecars looked to be between Rob Wilson, Mick Cave, Nevill Penfold, and Jerry Adams, who was having a great season. LH Sidecars looked wide open, but Bill Penfold, John Fish, Terry Pachol, and Bob Miles would have some great battles by the end of the meeting.
