According to the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome, each year there are 1,300 documented cases in the U.S. 25% of those babies die and 80% have life-long complications. Jansen's family left him at daycare then received the call that all parents fear. Jansen was injured and unresponsive. Two years after being injured, Jansen uses a wide range of therapies as well as equipment to continue his recovery. While at Wendell Foster’s Campus, Jansen and his mom also visit the Western Kentucky Assistive Technology Center. The Center allows them to try educational toys and equipment before they buy them. The Center, Wendell Foster’s Campus, Norton Children’s Hospital and Frazier Rehab all receive funding from the WHAS Crusade for Children.
