“Communities getting together to share experiences and expertise on Water Harvesting to fight food shortages – INGABO. The tool against hunger” The INGABO syndicate is a network of over 16,000 farmers, 54.1% of which are women spread across 10 provinces in Rwanda. Recognized by the government in 2005, it promotes different sustainable water harvesting techniques. The INGABO syndicate also encourages different traditional methods to retain moisture and sustain food cropping. This syndicate is a member of the East Africa Farmers Federation and the World Farmers Organization. In this session our hosts from INGABO syndicate are the CEO Mbabazi Fracois Xavier, Senior Agronomist Manariyo Victor, Communication Officer Byiringiro Jean Paul and Session presenter Agronomist Dutonnyekumana Prosper together with community farmers picked around the 10 provinces of Rwanda. We learn from the farmers who are transforming their lives through sustainable water harvesting how the syndicate empowers communities through training in water retention to alleviate hunger and poverty.
