Gran Paradiso | 4061m | Skiing the North Face!

Winter ascent of Gran Paradiso via the north face in one day. We started from the parking at 3am to Riffugio Frederico Chabod which we passed and went directly to the glacier. At daybreak we were already quite close to the north face. We managed to get quite high with skiis and then continued climbing with crampons and ice axes. The climbing was easy and we simul-climbed the 600m high wall in less than 1h. The weather was epic and the views on the summit ridge were insane! We then decided to try a ski descent via the north face but we missed a flank to the right and needed to climb the ridge a few hundred meters to the side flank from where we could ski down. The conditions after the glacier did not allow for skiing without damaging the siiks, so I caried the skiis on my back and walked from Riffugio Chabod all the way down to the car - about 900 vertical meters. That was physicaly the hardest part of the trip. We arrived back to the car at 4pm.
