Covehithe Thorpeness Aldeburgh Leiston Abbey and Snape Maltings in Suffolk #boat #sea #river Today’s video starts on the cliff top at Covehithe , where evidence of a large recent cliff fall is evident for all to see. This is due to coastal erosion which happens all along the East Coast of England at an alarming rate. The church ruins also here at Covehithe, I’ve posted to my 2nd Youtube channel. Leiston Abbey, is about to undergo a major restoration project so parts of the Abbey have been fenced off. This only causes minimal disruption and you can still everything and get into all the different areas. English Heritage look after these magnificent ruins. House in the Clouds at Thorpeness is a totally unique holiday property, giving outstanding views over the local area. Aldeburgh Martello Tower, a former heavy gun battery to stop France invading when under Napoleon’s rule. This incredible building is looked after the Landmark Trust and has been converted into a beautiful holiday home and sits right beside the beach giving glorious 360 panoramic views. Snape Maltings was the final destination of the day. Moored here is a spectacular barge which is let out as holiday accommodation. Alongside the barge is a small tour boat giving boat trips to Aldeburgh and a separate boat takes photographers out to film the birds along the mud flats at low tide. The day ended with a trip back across the River via the chain ferry at Reedham. The most amazing day out. Thank you . Filmed March 2023
