Renowned philosopher Professor Michael Sandel gave the third lecture of the St Cross Uehiro Lecture Series, titled “The Tyranny of Merit: Why are we so polarized, and what can be done about it?” This interactive lecture was delivered at St Cross College, University of Oxford. This Lecture Series showcased our specialism in Practical Ethics and celebrated our long-standing relationship with the Uehiro Foundation, for whose support the College is very grateful. Professor Sandel teaches political philosophy at Harvard University. His books – on justice, democracy, ethics, and markets – have been translated into more than 30 languages.
