Locals in Haditha, a town 250 kilometres west of Baghdad, were apparently incensed that Abu Khotaiba had invited American soldiers patrolling the town into his house to eat. After the soldiers left a mob later surrounded the family home which was attacked and burned. The man's son was killed in the incident and a daughter was seriously injured. A neighbour said that others had also welcomed US-led coalition forces into their homes, but it was Khotaiba whom the mob turned on. His son's funeral took place on Tuesday.
