South Africa’s police leadership is on trial — and the Madlanga Commission is exposing a disturbing divide inside the SAPS. In this episode of Joe Talks Politics, Joseph Mosia examines two sharply contrasting testimonies before the Madlanga Commission: • A junior Crime Intelligence officer, Witness E, testifying under protection and risking everything to tell the truth. • A senior Hawks general, Lesetja Senona, whose evasive answers and admitted friendship with criminal accused Cat Matlala raise serious questions about credibility and leadership. Witness E alleges that suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu pressured him to falsely implicate members of the Political Killings Task Team in the murder of Sindiso Magaqa — and punished him when he refused. The very next day, the provincial head of the Hawks told the Commission that Matlala was “like a brother,” while claiming ignorance about sharing sensitive information. This episode asks the uncomfortable question South Africans cannot avoid: Can the SAPS defeat violent crime when junior officers face intimidation — and senior leaders blur the line between law enforcement and criminals? As General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi prepares to return to the Commission, the stakes could not be higher. #MadlangaCommission #SAPS #SouthAfricaPolitics #PoliceCorruption #PoliticalKillings #JoeTalksPolitics #CrimeIntelligence #Hawks #Accountability #RuleOfLaw #SindisoMagaqa #SenzoMchunu #NhlanhlaMkhwanazi Contact: joseph.mosia65@gmail.com
