Dr. Rahil Chaudhary — renowned Cataract & Refractive Surgeon and Managing Director of Eye7 Eye Hospitals addressed a pressing issue — why India remains the blind capital of the world. He explained that cataract (safed motiyabind) is the leading cause of blindness, a condition in which the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy with age, much like hair turning grey. Dr. Rahil compared the eye to a camera, where the lens focuses light on the retina. With aging, this clear lens turns opaque, leading to blurred vision. Fortunately, cataract is fully curable — modern surgery takes just 10 minutes, with no pain, stitches, or hospitalization, and patients often regain clear vision within a day. Despite these advancements, India continues to struggle due to its large population, limited medical infrastructure, and shortage of eye specialists. While the nation has about 27,000 ophthalmologists, it needs nearly 150,000 to meet the demand. Dr. Rahil also highlighted that India performs more cataract surgeries than the USA, Europe, and China combined, yet millions still suffer from avoidable blindness. He emphasized that only awareness, accessibility, and large-scale outreach programs can help close this critical gap and make vision care available to all. ⍟ ⍟ ⍟ 👨🏻⚕️KNOW ABOUT DR RAHIL CHAUDHARY (Cataract & Refractive Surgeon and Director of Eye7 Eye Hospitals) https://www.eye7.in/eye-specialists/D... ⍟ ⍟ ⍟ ✅ CONTACT US Tel: (011) 40 40 40 70 (available 24x7) WhatsApp: (+91) 9643 77 88 99 OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL👇 Eye7 Chaudhary Eye Centre Link in Bio (@Eye7Hospital) #EyeHealth #IndiaEyeCare #BlindnessPrevention #RahilChaudhary #TrayaHealthPodcast #HealthcareInIndia #VisionCare #EyeDiseases #RuralHealthcare #MedicalAwareness #PreventBlindness #EyeCareAwareness #HealthInfrastructure #MedicalProfessionals #VisionForAll #HealthPodcast #PublicHealth #EyeCareInIndia #HealthEducation #EyeSpecialist ⚠️MEDICAL ADVICE DISCLAIMER: The information on various eye problems and treatments available at this channel is intended for general guidance only, not advice or guarantee of outcome, and must never be considered a substitute for the advice provided by a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional upon your eye examination.
