I think we did something really unique here. When we were planning the Women of the Crystal album and PurpleSchala brought up the idea of covering Freya's Theme, I can remember listening to it and thinking, "It's gorgeous! But it's so repetitive, how could be arrange it to make it work for the two of us?" A few hours later, I had written the version that you're hearing now. In classical music, this is called a Passacaglia, where you have a repeating bass line and changing melodic and ornamental material above it. I love how this arrangement captures the essential melancholy character of Freya. In various parts, you can hear the rain falling on the stones of Burmecia, her home. Enjoy!
