1 Hour of Anglican Hymns to Celebrate the Oxford Movement On July 14, 1833, John Keble preached his famous assize sermon 'National Apostasy,' which has been recognised as where the Oxford Movement and the Catholic Revival within the Anglican Church began. This movement brought many great things to the Anglican Church, one being an emphasis on parishes singing congregational hymns. Some of the greatest Anglican hymns originate from the 19th-century Catholic Revival.
