According to Khan Jan Alokozay, the head of the Pak-Afghan Chamber of Commerce in Kabul, all trade and transit have been suspended since the fighting began, as reported by Reuters. He mentioned, "With each passing day, both sides are losing around $1 million," in his statement to Reuters. Fresh fruits, vegetables, minerals, medicines, wheat, rice, sugar, meat, and dairy products constitute the majority of the $2.3 billion annual trade between the two countries. In Pakistan, tomatoes, which are a staple in everyday cooking, have experienced a price increase of over 400%, now costing approximately 600 Pakistani rupees ($2.13) per kg. Apples, primarily imported from Afghanistan, have also seen a significant rise in price. "Garlic has reached Rs 400 per kg, while ginger has skyrocketed to Rs 750. Onions are now priced at Rs 120 per kg, and peas are being sold at Rs 500 per kg. The price of capsicum has dropped to Rs 300 per kg, with okra also available at the same price. Cucumbers can be found for Rs 150 per kg, and local red carrots are priced at Rs 200 per kg. Local lemons are selling for Rs 300 per kg, while coriander, which used to be given away for free, now costs Rs 50 for a small bunch."
