Ask them if they get frustrated because of problems and wish life didn't have to be like this. Ask them if they could change their world in a number of significant ways, how they would do it. Very soon you will have them talking about heaven-the way they think life should be. Their ideas may not be that well thought out, but they will be heartfelt. And they will not simply reflect their selfish desires, but also their inherited creative design. They can imagine a life far different from the one they are currently experiencing. Though we often aren't aware of it, we have heaven on our minds far more frequently than we imagine. As a pastor, I have performed many funerals over the years. It is in these tragic moments in peoples' lives that they most clearly articulate their ideas of heaven. And I learn again and again that the desire for heaven is intense and universal, but our understanding of heaven is weak and muddled."
