These are just my personal tips for preparation for CRS and HIPEC and some things to bring to the hospital. Prepare for CRS and HIPEC List 1. Walking/moving/getting strong 2. Putting a little extra weight on if you can. If you can’t, that's ok! 3. Enjoy those greens BEFORE because you may not be able to eat too much fiber after at least for awhile (depending …on what happens during your surgery) 4. Have your house in order clean and organized 5. Stock up on food and supplies 6. Have help arranged 7. Have bills paid in advance or on auto pay 8. Mani/pedi - ask your team if it is ok to have nail polish on. If not, you can do a natural buff and shine CRS/HIPEC - Bring to the Hospital List I thought I needed a lot, but did not, and a lot of stuff got in my way. All I needed was: 1. Oral hygiene (toothbrush, paste, home made mouthwash, floss, tongue cleaner) 2. Super long phone charger and wall adapter/plug in 3. Hygiene items like manicure kit/tweezers, hairbrush, etc 4. Entertainment; books, laptop, tablet, kindle, etc 5. Chapstick (kept at my bedside) 6. Hand Sanitizer (kept at my bedside) 7. Chewing gum (kept at my bedside - though they sometimes will prescribe this for you and you may not need it) 8. Hard candy (kept at my bedside - especially lemon flavor like lemonheads, or jolly ranchers). Do not have any until the nurses give you permission. 9. Photos or digital photo frame/something small that will make you happy Home Made Mouth Wash Video (I made it really strong in this video, adjusted recipe below):    • Quick Video on How to Make Mouthwash For S...   Home made mouthwash - helps prevent and clear up oral thrush/velvet tongue: 1 16 oz bottle of water pour into a bowl Add in 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt stir until dissolved Pour back into the bottle and label it Some people like to bring a phone tripod, extension cord, power strip (good idea), blanket, slippers, robe, etc. I felt that slippers got in my way and I almost tripped on them several times. I liked the hospital’s anti slip socks. They brought me warm blankets. I only wore their gowns due to foley catheter. Do bring a dress or robe to leave hospital in. You may have some tubes or a catheter for a bit longer and regular clothes will be too hard to put on if so.
