Driving Big Dune in Big Desert State Forest Victoria

Big Dune is one of the largest drivable sand dunes in Big Desert State Forest and probably the north west part of Victoria. Big Desert State Forest sits between Big Desert Wilderness Area and Wyperfield National Park. 4WDer's come from miles around to have a go at getting up this beast of a dune. Conditions can change drastically from trip to trip depending on the weather, the hotter and drier the harder it is to conquer. This episode is a compilation of trips and tours we have taken through the area, with many failed attempts and some victories to. Not matter what happens, everyone loves having a go at getting up it at least one time, some have many more than that as well. We generally take a look at Big Dune on day 1 of our Desert to Dunes tour, but we have also added it into the back half of the Border track if the mud holes are to much for our guests. If you are travelling from Ouyen to Pinnaroo on the Mallee Highway and you have time to spare it will take you about 45 mins to an hour to drive into the dune, but in our opinion it is well worth it.
