The 26-year-old’s throat-slit body was recovered on June 16 from the Reliance Canal near Kharkhoda in Haryana’s Sonipat, The Times of India reported. The body bore multiple stab wounds. The body was discovered days after Simmi alias Sheetal left her home in Panipat for a music album shoot in Ahar village. As per the TOI report, the same night, the model made a distress call to her sister Neha, saying her partner Sunil was beating her and forcibly taking her with him. Following the call, her phone was switched off. The report added that her body, discovered a couple of days after she went missing, was identified by the tattoos on her chest and hand. Sunil and Simmi, the police told TOI, had an altercation while the two were drinking alcohol. It turned violent. Following the argument, Sunil killed Simmi; he allegedly stabbed her multiple times before throwing her body into the canal along with the car. Sunil, who was rescued by locals the next day and admitted to a private hospital on Siwah Bypass in Panipat, initially claimed it was an accident.
