If you want to learn your birds, you gotta know where to go to find them. On a windy (sorry about the noise!) day, I take you to the coastline at high tide, where TONS of migrating birds of all types are piled up and feeding like mad in the seaside cafe known as the "wrack line" - pipers, plovers, gulls, ducks, songbirds and more! .. Learning birds is also about learning habitat, food preferences and other details of their lives. You'll notice that I'm keeping my distance from these birds because they're likely exhausted from flying hundreds or thousands of miles to get to their breeding ground. They don't need some over-excited guy like me to spook them and cause them to waste precious energy.
