Evan has a palpable enthusiasm and passion for life that directly influences those around him. He enjoys making videos and skits, hanging out with friends, riding his bike, dancing, and cracking jokes. In this film Evan’s parents and siblings also share their experience having a family member with special needs, the lessons they’ve learned, and the unique joys he has brought into their life. Evan’s story provokes all of us to think more deeply about what really gives life meaning and worth. The film considers the role of suffering in life and its redemptive nature and how this understanding compels us to preserve and protect all lives, including those with disabilities such as Down Syndrome. From the Director: I had the pleasure of meeting Evan Williams earlier in 2021 and immediately had the idea of making a film with him. As I got to know him I was quickly affected by his positive energy and genuine character but what impacted me more was his attitude of simplicity and his dependence and trust both in God and in his family and friends. The lack of fear and the peace and confidence he has knowing who he is as a son of God deeply affected the way I view my own life. I tend to struggle with perfectionism and overworking but Evan has urged me to approach life from an entirely different angle, bringing me to a deeper realization that my worth as a person is not found in the sum of my accomplishments and achievements, but in who I am as a son of God. This belief has lead to a certain peace and freedom even amid painful sufferings. Evan has become a great friend of mine, someone who encourages me, challenges me, and compels me to live out my life to the full, even when it is difficult, and find joy in the small things. I hope this documentary impacts you in the same way that my experiences with Evan have impacted my life.
