Today we go on a little hike in the woods and check out some really cool mushrooms and landscapes. We found a lot of mushrooms today and even some other things that help us in scouting wild edibles in winter. Wintertime is really good for scouting places to forage wild edibles and medicinal plants, as it allows us the forager to see things we might not have seen when the growing season is in full swing. Things like green briars, nightshades, puffballs, oyster mushrooms, and more can be easily seen from a distance. We even get a look at a great survival food, called putty root which is much easier seen in the winter than in the other months of the year.
