The Menachem Begin Heritage Center and Hidden Light Institute proudly present a program in a new series entitled "The Menachem Begin Symposium Series." In this show, Prime Minister Menachem Begin's decision to destroy Osirak, Iraq’s nuclear reactor, in 1981, is highlighted. This consequential decision established 'the Begin Doctrine': no country with the declared aim of destroying Israel would be permitted to acquire the means to do so. This program marks 29 years since the passing of Menachem Begin with a discussion about this significant part of his legacy. The discussion features President of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center Herzl Makov, whose squadron in the Israeli Air Force participated in the bombing raid on Osirak in 1981, and Jerusalem Post editor Yaakov Katz, author of "Shadow Strike," the definitive account of Israel’s destruction of Syria's nuclear reactor in 2007. This event was hosted and moderated by Paul Gross, a senior fellow at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, and was primarily sponsored by the Hidden Light Institute and the Menachem Begin Heritage Center.
