In 1966, the United States Marine Corps (USMC) decided that they needed a standardized sniper platform based on the newly adopted .308 Winchester. The Marine Corps decided on the Remington Model 40X rifle, target/varmint version of the Model 700 bolt action rifle. This rifle was designated as the M40-XB and 550 rifles were topped with the Redfield 3-9X variable power AccuRange Rifle Scope. We have recreated the green anodized Redfield 3-9X for those interested in building a period correct M40 replica. The Hi-Lux M40 USMC 3-9X40 comes in a green anodized finish similar to the original scopes. Like the originals, the Hi-Lux M40 rifle scopes come with a dual focal plane reticle system, allowing the shooter to quickly range targets between 200-600 yards by framing a known 18" dimension in the reticle. We also offer a hunter version of this scope - the M40 Tactical Hunter 3-9X40. The Hunter model comes in a matte black anodized finish and has .223/.308 BDC holdovers out to 600 yards.
