Recorded during the Sundance Film Festival 2026 in Park City, Utah, this panel conversation brings together filmmakers and global visionaries shaping the future of food, health, and equity through the lens of FOOD 2050. Moderated by Danielle Nierenberg, President of Food Tank, the panel features Jian Yi of Mama’s Kitchen; Sara Farley, Vice President of the Global Food Portfolio at The Rockefeller Foundation; Matthew Thompson, Director of FOOD 2050; and David Osogo, Research Officer at the African Population and Health Research Center. Together, the panel explores how storytelling, philanthropy, research, and on-the-ground action intersect to confront some of the most urgent challenges facing our food systems today. From nutrition and public health to climate resilience and global equity, the conversation expands on the themes of FOOD 2050 and the real-world work happening beyond the screen. FOOD 2050 is narrated and executive produced by Viola Davis and spans five continents and eight countries, highlighting the farmers, scientists, activists, and entrepreneurs reimagining how the world will eat by 2050. The Sundance 2026 premiere convened filmmakers, chefs, artists, and changemakers for a one-day gathering that blended film, food, and conversation into a shared vision for the future. Produced by Media RED in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation, FOOD 2050 reflects a collective commitment to building a more just, nourishing, and resilient global food system.
