Finally got round to building the Neo Ergo... well it might be said to not be a complete build as for the first time I decided to ditch all stabs - for reasons including me not having entirely recovered from the horrors of working with Neo stabs (in particular the stoppers which are usually way too thick to be properly fitted) when building other Neo boards for friends. Surprisingly, the stab-less experience turned out pretty good and I've learnt that they're really not needed... except for the spacebar of course. Credit to those keyboard folks on YouTube for coming up with this 999 IQ idea to go stab-less - you can't have a bad stabiliser, or won't need to worry about needing to regularly tune it, if the stabiliser is not even there to begin with! Also, I'm kind of late to the HMX Cheese hype party - having used it I can fully understand why these took the keyboard community by storm when it first came out - because they were the OG HMX clack switches. Though, after the release of so many different HMX switches since then (has there been 20?), I think it can be safely said that these have lost their distinctive character. However, if you are a crazy switch hoarder like I am and/or like to keep pieces of keyboard history - the HMX Cheeses would score a recommend from me. Keyboard: Neo Ergo (Navy) Dampening: Case foam Mounting: Gasket Plate: Alu plate Switches: HMX Cheese (stock), Kailh BCP (lubed and filmed) on left spacebar Stabs: Nil lol Keycaps: GMK Panels Recorded with iPhone 12 Pro and T669 microphone
