One For The Road is an English band heavily influenced by Country Rock and Americana. In 2024 they released an album, "Sunsets & Silhouettes" which included seven original songs and seven cover versions of their favourite songs. Seminole Wind, the brilliant song by John Anderson is one of those songs. Keith Beasley (lead singer with the band) first became aware of the song in 2003 whilst on holiday (vacation) from the UK in Florida. He had just spent a few hours visiting The Miccosukee Indian Village on Highway 41, in the Everglades, which included an air-boat ride across The Everglades. On leaving the village he started driving west on Highway 41. Within a few minutes of leaving, Seminole Wind by John Anderson came on the radio, a song he hadn't heard before. Having just learned about the Miccosukee and to some degree, the Seminole Tribes at the village, it was like "a message being sent". In short, the song blew him away and still does. Keith had a long-held interest and high respect in the cultures, the beliefs and the ways of all First Nations people (Native Americans). For many years, his band One For The Road have played this song and it always brings a lump to the throat. When they recorded their 2024 album, it was one of the first choices of songs they would include. Keith has been back to Florida several times since 2003 and has re-visited the Miccosukee Indian Village a number of times. It is a special place! The wildlife, flora and fauna of the Everglades are an absolute thrill every time. Many of the photos in this video were taken by Keith on those trips. Respect to John Anderson who wrote this masterpiece, blessings to the Miccosukee and Seminole Tribes and to all Native American people.
