PM Modi's Manipur Message: A 2-Hour Road Trip to Violence-Hit Churachandpur | India Today News

Prime Minister Modi made his first visit to Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in the state in 2023. A significant part of the visit was a two-hour road journey from Imphal to Churachandpur, a Kuki community stronghold and one of the areas worst affected by the violence which claimed at least 260 lives. This is being seen as a direct outreach, with one speaker noting, "this is an outreach which is coming directly from the top of the union government." During the visit, the Prime Minister is set to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth almost 10,000 crore.
