🏫 JOSE RIZAL INSTITUTE OF ORION CENTENNIAL: 100 Years of Legacy, Excellence & Homecoming (Bataan, Philippines) About the School Nestled in the heart of Orion, Bataan, Jose Rizal Institute (JRI) stands as a beacon of education and Filipino pride. Founded in 1926 our beloved alma mater carries the name of the Philippine national hero, Dr. José Rizal—a constant reminder to every student who walks its halls of the values he embodied: knowledge, patriotism, integrity, and service to others. For a century, JRI has shaped young minds, produced community leaders, and sent generations of graduates into the world carrying the torch of Rizal's legacy. From its humble beginnings as a small local school, it has grown into an institution that has touched thousands of lives across Orion and beyond. The Centennial Celebration (1926–2026) In February 09-13 2026, our alma mater marked a monumental milestone: 100 years of providing education and shaping futures. The week-long celebration brought together alumni from across generations and continents—from recent graduates to our beloved seniors who walked the halls decades ago. The five-day program was a vibrant tapestry of: 🎉 Grand Opening Ceremonies – A Thanksgiving mass and colorful parade 🏫 Campus Tours and Medical Mission – Walking through halls filled with memories 🎭 Cultural Presentations – Showcasing Filipino heritage and talent ⚽ Sports Festivals – Friendly competitions reigniting old rivalries 🍽️ Community Feasts – Sharing stories over traditional Filipino cuisine The Highlight: Alumni Awards Night The pinnacle of the centennial celebration was the Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) , where we honoured JRI graduates who have excelled in their chosen fields. From educators and engineers to healthcare heroes, entrepreneurs, public servants and the military, these outstanding alumni embody the very best of our school's mission. Their achievements stand as a testament to the strong foundation JRI provided—proof that a small school in Bataan can produce world-class talent. Class of 1974: 52 Years of Friendship Following the centennial events, my batch—the JRI Class of 1974—held our own class reunion. Fifty two years since we last sat in those classrooms, we gathered once more: faces etched with time but eyes still bright with the same youthful spirit. We walked the corridors together, pointing at old classrooms, recalling teachers who shaped us, and laughing over stories that only we remember. Some of us hadn't seen each other in decades. Yet, the moment we gathered, it was as if no time had passed at all.
